Helping Children & New Skaters Skate Safely

One of the most important things new skaters, and those bringing children skating should do is make sure they understand how a roller skating rink works. There are various things skaters should and shouldn't do. Understanding that makes it much less likely they will hurt themselves, or others in a collision with other skaters.

Rink etiquette is quite straight forward but very important if you want to help avoid accidents and collisions on the rink.

  • The most important rink rule is that everyone skates the same direction.
  • It’s also very important NOT to cut across the rink. If you are entering the skating area, please check to see what is coming and if there is space, join at an angle and follow the flow of skating.
  • If you are a slow or unconfident skater please make good use of the beginners area. If you want to skate in the main rink please keep to the inside.
