Frequently Asked Questions

If you have questions about SK8S please check here first before emailing or messaging - in most cases you should find an answer below

What kind of hire skates do you have?

We have lots of roller boots, or quads, ranging from junior size 7 to adult size 13 (UK sizes).

Can you guarantee you'll have skates in my size?

This is kind of tough for us to do at the moment. First of all, although we have *lots* of skates and we keep an eye on the most popular sizes so we can stock up, there is always going to be a limited number of each size.

Also, there is a difference between skates that match your regular shoe size and skates that fit.

We will always do our best to make sure everyone that wants to skate, can skate but skates are hired out on a first come first served basis unless you’ve booked a party session.

Can I bring my own skates?

Yes, you can bring your own skates to the roller sessions but you must ensure that they are in a safe working condition, and in order to avoid repair bills from our venues, you must make sure they have non-marking wheels and brakes.

Adult supervision for under 15 year olds?

We require all under 14 and under skaters to be supervised by an adult and in the case of large groups we generally require about one adult to every 3 under 15s. On the whole this is mostly for safety reasons, particularly with younger skaters who might not understand the rules correctly or might not realise they are skating dangerously.

How long can I skate for?

As long as you like! Once you have paid for your session you are welcome to stay as long as you are having fun, up to the end of the session.

What music will be playing?

Roller disco sessions are about having a good time so expect to hear disco classics, electro grooves, hip-hop beats and soulful treats. Even if discos aren’t your thing, you will still have a great time on skates.

What do I have to wear?

Whatever you like! Why not something colourful and bright? After skating for a little while you will probably get quite warm so you won’t need winter coats.

Am I going to hurt myself?

If you are new to skating you might have the odd fall. The most likely outcome of a fall is a hurt wrist because it is a natural reaction to put your hands out when you fall. For this reason we provide wrist guards free of charge to anyone who wants them. In our experience these help lessen the pain and risk of injury if you fall.

What protective gear should I wear?

We offer protective wrist guards for free to anyone who wants them but we are not currently able to offer or hire out additional protective gear.

When is the next SK8S session?

You should find the times of all upcoming SK8S session here on the website – have a look at our upcoming events and book your tickets online if you want to 🙂

Can I hire SK8S for my own party?

We love a good party 🙂 Yes you can usually hire SK8S for your own party provided you have a suitable venue available. Email us or message us and let us know what you’d like to do.

What are the rules for SK8S sessions?
