After running SK8s for 8 fabulous years it is with regret that due to other commitments we can no longer dedicate the time required to maintain a high performing business.
For that reason we’re looking for someone to purchase this highly successful business and continue to demonstrate the same passion for roller skating, customer service and entertaining that has been the hallmark of SK8s throughout our 8 year history.
We operate SK8s across two venues in Lincoln, holding 2 sessions per week for all ages and an additional adults only session on the second Friday of every month.
- Fridays at Yarborough Leisure Centre from 6-8pm
- Saturdays at North Kesteven from 5.30-7.30pm
- Adults only at Yarborough LC from 8.30-10.30pm (ages 16+).
We own a large number of roller skates which we hire out to the public for the weekly sessions, plus a range of other roller skating accessories available for purchase.
Business as usual
We’d like to stress to our SK8ers that nothing will change for the time being, we will not be closing down, simply changing hands when the time comes.
Thank you to everyone who has attended our roller disco over the past 8 years. We’ve had a fabulous run but now wish to see SK8s in the hands of a new team who can give it the love and attention it deserves.
Jon & Lauren

“SK8s ran my daughter’s sixth birthday party and it was just perfect! They worked so hard to make everything fun and safe for all the little skaters and it went down a treat with everyone having a brilliant time. There were some small, and some parent converts to skating as a result. I can’t recommend them enough if you’re looking for a birthday party that’s just that bit different.
Eloise even wanted to leave her own review: “It was awesome!” – Samantha Hook.”

Have you ever skated with our very own Lady MacDeath?
We are delighted to announce that one of our regulars, Eve Gormley, will be representing Great Britain in the Junior Roller Derby World Cup in Philadelphia, and we are her proud sponsors!
On 23rd and 24th July 16-year-old Eve, who is a student at Lincoln College, will join her Team GB Junior Roller Derby teammates from across the country to compete against teams from Europe, USA East, USA West, Canada and Australia. It will be the first time that Great Britain has taken part.
Eve, whose roller derby nickname is ‘Lady MacDeath’ has skated with the Lincolnshire Bombinos team based in Lincoln since 2012 and is one of their longest standing members. She chose the nickname because she is an English Literature student and loves Shakespeare’s Macbeth.
“I’m so excited and honoured to have been selected for Team GB Junior Roller Derby and to have the opportunity to compete against the best junior roller derby players in the world! It’s every young person’s dream to line up alongside fantastic teammates to represent their country doing something they love and I can’t quite believe that I’m going to be doing that in July”. – Eve
Mum Beverley Gormley said:
“We’re so proud that Eve is going to be able to realise her dream of competing internationally in such an exciting sport! She’s worked extremely hard and it’s great to see her hard work and dedication paying off. I want to say a big thank you to all of her coaches at Bombinos and to her sponsor SK8s UK who have encouraged her to practice her fancy footwork at their roller discos. Without them, she wouldn’t have got this far.”
Eve is now crowdfunding to help with the cost of traveling to Team GB training sessions around the country, and her flights and accommodation in the USA. If you’d like to help her get to the Junior World Cup, please donate whatever you can at:
We are also hosting a raffle at our weekly roller disco sessions to help raise funds – details below:
PRIZE – Brand new pair of skates worth £50. Available in sizes junior 12 – adult 9, in a range of colours.
ENTRY – £1 per ticket. Available to buy over the counter at any SK8S session until 30/6/18.

The biggest fear all our new skaters have is falling. The best piece of advice we can give is to say that ‘you will fall over at least once!’ but there are tried and tested methods to prevent you doing it time and time again. Of course, we will be on hand to help you….
Just because you fall over doesn’t mean you can’t do it or that you won’t enjoy it, but we have put together some tips and selected some video’s to help you get your head around things….
Beginners – balance is key!
- T Position is the first position to learn
- Toes pointing inwards will take you backwards,
- Toes pointing out will take you forward!
- Bend your knees and start by taking a few small, duck like steps!
- If you are familiar with scooting, use your dominant leg to push off!
- Keep your hands low and your body slightly forward
Learn how to Stop!
Try and use the T-Stop. This needs you to put full pressure on the right heel brake.
Learn how to fall!
You will fall every now and again. If you are committed and want to enjoy your skating expereince then you must learn how to fall safely. Watch a Video
More videos on how to start….
A long one….
A little more advanced and with blades….
Have you got any tips or video’s to share with us? We’d love to hear from you….
We have Rio Roller SK8s to hire (£1.50) but you can bring your own. The only rule is that they don’t mark the floor. Admission is £5 and wrist guards are free. NUS card holders get FREE SK8 hire.Book a Party
Impress your friends with your muscle knowledge
By now you’ve probably worked out how much fun roller disco is. Our 28 5 star reviews tell us you are enjoying it. But did you know how many muscles you are working every time you SK8? Katrina Bullimore, Remedial and Soft Tissue Therapist, tells us exactly what we are doing when we step onto our 8’s.
- Spinal Muscles and postural stabilisers
- Glutes and Hip flexors
- Gastrocnemius and Tibula Anterior
All of this translates into back, bum, thighs (inner, outer and back), calf and shin!
We already know that Lincoln’s top PT Craig Barton agrees it is a great way of incorporating cardio into your weekly routine so this is all good news for shedding those Christmas pounds!
How can you prevent injury?
Katrina is the resident therapist for our friends at Lincolnshire Bombers Roller Girls so we think she knows her stuff. Her advice on how to prevent injuries goes like this…..
- Learn how to fall correctly
- Wear the correct protective gear, knee pads, elbow pads and wrist guards
- Learn to stop, balance and control your speed
Your safety is as important to us. We offer wrist guards for free and first aiders are on hand.We operate a ‘3 strikes and you’re out’ policy so anyone repeatedly trying to ruin the safe and fun atmosphere will be asked to leave. Jon Crawford
Have you enjoyed SK8ing with us? Tell us what you think and help us improve:
We SK8 every Friday at Yarborough Leisure Centre 6pm and Saturdays at North Kesteven Sport Centre 5.30pm. Each session lasts for 2 hours. NUS card holders get FREE SK8 hire. Skater of the Night wins a free session for their next visit.
